Yucaipa opens its Concert in the Park summer season with Yard Sale

Music fans, young and old, anticipate the start of the Yard Sale concert.

The balmy weather, July 7, at Yucaipa Community Park’s outdoor amphitheater, made it a perfect evening to kick off Yucaipa’s 2019 Concert in the Park series. Hundreds of locals attended the free outdoor concert and Yard Sale was a hit, according to concertgoers.

The event opened with a warm welcome from Yucaipa’s Community Service Supervisor Megan Wolfe. She welcomed guests and said in addition to the live music, there were food vendors, kids activities, vintage cars, courtesy of Past Pleasures Car Club, and more.

The versatile band, Yard Sale, played everything from the ‘70s to present-day pop. Based on audience applause and dancing, the community loved it.

“I’m grateful to the city of Yucaipa for sponsoring the summer concert series,” said Rosilicie Ochoa Bogh. “It gives our family an opportunity to come together with friends, visit and create long lasting summer memories.”

Sara Grainger attended the concert with her husband Shawn.

“I cannot believe that I’ve lived in Yucaipa for over 20 years and this is my first Concert in the Park,” said Grainger, who was also hanging out with a group of friends. “We are having a great time and the band is great! We are definitely coming back next week.”

The Concerts in the Park will continue, every Sunday through Aug. 11, from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The remainder of the 2019 schedule is as follows: July 14, Matchbox Twenty Two, a cover band; July 28, Mark Easterday, country; July 28, Femme Halen, Van Halen cover band; Aug. 4, The Trip, a rock band; Aug. 11, Gypsy, Fleetwood Mac cover band.
