Area players make all-section baseball

Yucaipa's Luke Scherrer had a big season at the plate.

Yucaipa High’s Jacob Reimer and Luke Scherrer made the All-CIF-Southern Section Division 1 baseball team announced recently.  

Reimer, a senior, hit .398 with eight home runs and 28 runs batted in. He will probably be picked within the first five rounds of the Major League Baseball July free-agent draft.  

Scherrer, a junior, hit .443 with three home runs and 27 runs batted in.  

Citrus Valley juniors Riley Hunsaker and Noah Smith made the Division 3 team.  

Hunsaker hit .363 with two home runs and 17 runs batted in.  

Smith went 7-1 on the mound with a 1.88 earned run average. He struck out 61 batters and walked 19.  

Making the D7 team from Arrowhead Christian were sophomores Bradley Gilbert and Isaiah Sanchez.  

Gilbert hit .408 with three home runs and 32 RBI. He went 9-4 on the mound with a 0.69 ERA and struck out 78, while walking 14.  

Sanchez hit .435 with 30 RBI.
