The letters to the editor last week from Mr. Aguilar, Mr. Miller, Ms. Drom, Ms. Sutt and Ms. Gibeault did a very good job of articulating my thoughts regarding the heinous murder of George Floyd by four police officers, the fundamental racism of Bobby Duncan, and the frightening spectacle of “armed men in camo on top of buildings, roaming the streets with guns and beer in hand.”
I was raised in Yucaipa and have spent most of my life here. I have always loved our city. It pains me if Yucaipa has a red, racist reputation. The above referenced letters restore my belief that we are a diverse city, that we do not all advocate for gun-toting mob rule, that we do not all vote Republican and that we are not all racists. I also agree that our city council should do a better job of leading the way in denouncing white supremacy and leading our city to be better, for all the members of our community.
