We can reduce gun violence in the US by employing available data. Our statistics on homicides and gun related trauma identify mental illnesses and access to firearms as their principle causes.

Given the complexities of identifying and controlling people with mental disabilities we are left with guns and ammunition law modification for dealing with the associated death and injury. Congressmen have legislative tools that can countermeasure such problems. It is up to us to contact our legislators and share our thoughts and vote for responsible actions to follow.
