For 10 years the Yucaipa Rotary Club has delivered turkey and ham meals at Thanksgiving and Christmas in our holiday basket project. In 2019 the club delivered meals, foodstuffs and $25 Stater Bros. gift cards to families and seniors – more than 100 people. Rotary thanks our partners in this effort: the Morongo Band of Cahuilla Mission Indians for turkeys, the Bryant Street Stater Bros. Market for discounted hams, Kopper Kettle for bargain Thanksgiving and Christmas meals for the seniors, and these Yucaipa High School InterAct Club members for assisting in purchasing and/or delivering the meals for either one of both holidays: Quinn Benitez (both), Justin Briscoe, Lily Eichinger (both), Cole Luham, Troy Montgomery (both), Nhi Phan, Sydney Sandoval, Alfredo Tool (both), Jorge Valencia and Tom Stewart, their faculty advisor.
Also, the club thanks the Wildwood Elementary School Early Act Club for Thanksgiving cards and the Mesa View Middle School InterAct Club for Christmas cards. Additionally, thanks go to other students who participated: Easton Beaulieu, Dawit Crain, Layla Jimenez, Kyle Robinson and Clara and Diego Santayo.
Further thanks go to Cobbs Printing for bags, notepads and pencils, Redlands Community Hospital for personal use items, and County Line Road Del Taco for donating 300 food coupons.
The club also thanks Markowicz Egg Ranch for donating dozens of eggs to all the families and seniors for both holidays. Lastly and most importantly, the Yucaipa Rotary Club expresses our gratitude to the families and seniors for offering us the opportunity to demonstrate the Rotary Club mission of Service Above Self.
