I just want to add a little more information regarding the negative opinions about the Performing Arts Center. I’m guessing the comments that a nearby city with “free” concerts is referencing the Redlands Bowl. The city of Redlands does not pay for those concerts. The bowl is funded by generous sponsors and underwriters, in addition to the free-will offerings taken at every event. Some of the donors are companies like La Z Boy, esri, Beaver Medical, Edison, YMCA, and San Manuel. Hundreds of individuals also donate. Amounts given range from a few hundred dollars, to well over $50,000. A list of donors is provided in the full printed schedule that is available every concert season.

I agree with Rachael Gustuson. It is not the responsibility of the government to provide its citizens with free entertainment. I do appreciate the many free events that are actually available to us.
