My comments won't make the pre-July 4th deadline, but perhaps spread thought for the long weekend ahead. I live close to Wildwood Elementary School. As with previous years, I decline to accept invitations from friends and family to celebrate. I have wonderful immediate neighbors, but nearby folks (you know who you are) are intent on setting off fireworks for weeks before and after July 4th.

I worry about wind carrying embers, and potential fire hazards. I keep my dog in the house, and it is weeks before she will go outside without me for “necessities.” If you are reading this, and are guilty of disobeying the law, I hope that you will take a moment to reflect on how your actions reflect on others and limit our ability to celebrate this country’s freedom.
