Ted E. Hurlburt (Mr. Ted) died Oct. 2, 2020. He died at home peacefully in the loving arms of his adoring wife.
Ted was born on Aug. 27, 1927, in Phoenix, Ariz. He moved to Englewood where, after being pestered by a friend to attend church and just to keep him quiet, he went to church with him and met Christ. His life was changed forever.
Ted attended San Jose Bible College and after graduating in 1948, he married the love of his life, Dorothy, on June 21, 1948, and the two of them started a life of ministry together. Ted was a minister for the rest of his life pastoring in churches from Oregon to Southern California. He was a passionate follower of Christ and dedicated his life to sharing Jesus’ saving grace to others. He had a friendly, fun demeanor and was highly esteemed by all who knew him. His positive attitude on life was contagious. Ted’s understanding of scripture ran deep, and his teaching was easy to follow. He not only knew scripture, he lived it.
Ted had a few hobbies, he enjoyed golf, loved puttering around in the garage doing woodwork and made a few pieces of furniture for the house. He also enjoyed growing vegetables for the table.
Hospice made it possible for Ted to be at home with his loved ones until he left this life.
He is survived by his wife Dorothy Hurlburt and his three children – James Hurlburt of Washington, Dawna Tibbits of California and Leanna Pemberton-Nesbitt of Zimbabwe. He also left behind five grandchildren.
An intimate family service was held at the gravesite on Oct. 13.
