Robert B. Walker, 90, passed away at home on Jan. 4, 2020.
He was born on April 4, 1929 in Long Island, N.Y. He joined the army when he was 17 and met the love of his life, Joan Sudano, shortly after returning home in 1947. They were married on June 19, 1949. They celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary last year.
While living in New York they started a family and he served as a police officer on the Long Island police department.
They left New York in 1962. They moved around for a few years and finally settled in Calimesa in 1966.
While he and his wife raised seven children he started painting signs and eventually opened his own business, Bob Walker Signworks.
Bob was ordained as a minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ on Dec. 10, 1989 at Calimesa Community Church where he eventually served as a minister.
He spent many years of his life serving as a volunteer in the community. He loved to travel the country with his wife. He was an amazing husband and father and loved by many.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, grandson Timothy and his great grandson Kenny.
He is survived by his wife Joan, seven children and their five spouses, 41 grandchildren and their spouses, 47 great-grandchildren and their spouses, and nine great great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be Sunday, Feb. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Colony Clubhouse Building, 975 California St. in Calimesa.
