Pamela Colista Austin-Blair passed away after a six-year battle with colon cancer, on Saturday Aug. 3, 2019, at the age of 59 years.
Born in San Jose, in January of 1960 to Janice Hoffman and Carl Colista. She grew up in Glendale, where she graduated from Glendale High School in 1978.
She studied English at California State University Northridge until 1982. In 1989 She met her first husband Denis Austin (who preceded her in death December 2018).
In 1990 she moved to Yucaipa where she remained in her final days.
She will always be remembered as a fun, loving, free spirited, highly intelligent woman, who touched the lives of everyone she encountered. She had many loves in life which included: music of many genres, the beach, tutoring children and teaching them to read.
She was always known in the neighborhood as the mom who wasn’t afraid to get dirty and play four-square, kickball and even Pokémon with the neighborhood kids.
In 2014 she met her soon-to-be husband Neal Blair, who courageously stayed by her side with her recent diagnosis of colon cancer. Together they spent every night enjoying each other’s company and listening to the Beatles.
Pamela is survived by her daughter and husband Neal Blair and Janice Austin: three step-children, Cheryl, Jamie and “Buzz” Blair: three step-grandchildren, Natalie, Radley and Tommy.
Funeral services will be private.
