Mary Elma Popkins Mireles, 75, died Dec 3, 2020, in McAllen, Texas, peacefully with family by her side.
She was born Mary Elma Popkins to Carl and Ireta Popkins in Los Angeles on April 27, 1945.
Mary grew up in LA with her five siblings, including a twin sister, Ireta. Mary remained in LA after her marriage to Enrique Mireles where she raised their three boys, Henry, Rick, and John. They moved to Yucaipa in 1984 where two of her sons - John and Rick- continue to live with their families. Several years ago Enrique and Mary moved to Zapata, Texas, to retire but their family and friend ties remain here in the Southern California area.
Mary loved her time in Yucaipa and built many lasting friendships here. She was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Yucaipa 3rd Ward.
Mary was a sweet, kind-hearted lady who was loved by all who had the privilege to know her. She was dearly loved and is greatly missed.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers - Carl and Kenny and sisters - Ireta and Kathy.
She is survived by her sister Lillian, husband Enrique, children Henry, Rick (Kayleen), and John, grandchildren Alana (Patrick), Michael, Fiona (Kevin), Mia, Miley, Alicia, McKayla, Benjamin and Samuel, and great-grandchildren Leana, Nora, Molly, Patrick, Liam and Keira.
There will be a memorial when COVID-19 restrictions have lifted.
