Judith Margaret Stewart, 80, of Yucaipa, died March 17, 2021, peacefully at home surrounded by family. Judy was born on March 10, 1941, in Gary, Ind., to the late George and Alymra (nee Schoonover) Lobody.
Judith was a 1959 graduate of Lew Wallace High School in Gary. She had three children, Brenda Marcus, William Sommers, Jr., and Terrance Sommers. She attended Chaffey College in Rancho Cucamonga, and in 1987, she married the love of her life Weldon Stewart. For the two of them, it was as if their first date never ended. She retired from Kaiser Permanente following 31 years of service in various roles in healthcare administration. In retirement, she and Don traveled the country with a fifth wheel enjoying many adventures before returning to California. In 2016, she became a member of the Yucaipa Woman’s Club, where she served on several community service programs, focusing on art conversation, homeless assistance, domestic violence issues, returning veterans assistance, and community fundraising.
Judy is survived by her loving husband of 33 years, Weldon Stewart; children, Brenda Marcus of Yucaipa, and William (Krista) Sommers, Jr. of Corona, grandchildren, Joe (Brittany) Loynes of San Clemente, Johnathan Sommers, Michael and Sydnee Sommers of Corona, sister, Patricia (Nick) Krol of Indianapolis, Ind.; special niece, Megan (Tim) Krol Schultz of Indianapolis, Ind.; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Judy will be best remembered for her kind and caring nature; her exceptional cooking; her sense of adventure, in particular her love of road trips, fishing, and camping; her love of country music and NASCAR; and most importantly, for her love for her family.
She is preceded in death by: parents, George and Almyra Lobody; son, Terrance Sommers; sister, Janet Lobody; and brothers, George and Barry Lobody.
A private celebration of life will be held on April 10, 2021, with immediate family and close friends.
