John “Hobie” Riley, 72, passed away on July 4, 2019.
John was born and raised in York, Penn., on June 21, 1947, to father Walter D. Riley and mother Doris Smith.
John attended and graduated higher learning institutions before leaving for the US Marine Corp. John served during the Vietnam War and was awarded several honors in the process. After his tour of duty, John moved to Southern California and became an optical bench man. It was there he met his wife and started a family that brought a son, Hirschel Riley.
After the divorce, he lost touch with his son and extended family, John started a new life. He was a proud papa to many four-legged creatures and leaves behind Minute Mouse and Jett.
He enjoyed his many passions of guitar playing, hockey, vintage bicycles, military memorabilia, dinosaurs in his time after retirement from the AACN.
He re-connected with his son and was loved and cared for by Hirschel’s wife Rhonda and daughter Quinn, and lost relatives from the East Coast before he succumbed to cancer.
Funeral arrangements will be announced at a later date.
