Gerald Bliss Jr., 99, passed away on Dec. 28, 2019.
He was born in the Midwest and came to California as a young adult.
Gerald proudly served in the U.S. Navy from October of 1942 until December of 1945 when he returned to his job at Pacific Electric Railroad.
Gerald met his wife Claire at the Aragon Ballroom in Santa Monica in June of 1949 and married her a year later on June 9, 1950. They set up housekeeping in Whittier where they raised two children. They then added a teenager daughter, Shirley Vrecken, as an extra gift from God.
Gerald and Claire moved to Yucaipa in 1971, where they enjoyed a home on acreage in a rural setting with a beautiful view and wonderful neighbors.
Gerald continued to work for the railroad until he retired in 1985. Gerald raised beef and pork for the family freezers.
Gerald saw his last days in the home he loved under the care of family and passed peacefully. He has been interred at the Riverside National Cemetery. No services are planned at this time.
