Daniel (Dan) Joseph Gott, age 89, died Tuesday, April 27, 2021. He had been living in the memory care unit of the Lakes at Banning assisted living community located in Banning. He was born on July 29, 1931, the son of the late Charles and Marie Erhart Gott. Daniel (Dan) was born and raised in Erie, Pa. It was in Erie where he met his wife, Anna (Sue) Louise Berry. They were married on Nov. 23, 1953, and started a family consisting of one daughter and three sons.
With a strong desire to earn a college degree and to move up the corporate ranks, he left Pennsylvania with his family for California in 1962 for a more affordable education and career opportunities. In Cali-fornia, he earned his college degrees at San Bernardino Val-ley College and University of Redlands, bought the first family home in Colton, and worked for many years until his retirement from Lockheed Missiles and Space. Dan loved being part of a community and volunteered for many community related organizations.
In August of 1972, he moved the family to a new house, which he designed, in Calimesa. Dan and Sue enjoyed their retirement years by traveling, visiting family, and relaxing at their house. He was a loving husband, father, brother, son, and friend.
Dan was preceded in death by his wife Anna (Sue) Gott, his parents, brothers Doug Gott and Jim Gott. He is survived by his siblings Jerry (Sandy) Gott, Gil (Betty) Gott, Virginia Pel-kowski. and Marion Wiler; children Diane (Daryl) Schlicke, Daniel G. Gott, Charles J. (Dora) Gott, and Joseph (Sue) Gott; 10 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
Per his wishes, Dan’s re-mains will be cremated. A private memorial gathering will be held to remember Dan on June 12, 2021.
