Bernice Florence Gregory, 88, passed away in her Yucaipa home with family on Monday, Sept. 9, 2019.
Bernice was born in Detroit, Mich. on Dec. 9, 1930.
She grew up in Detroit, Mich. where she met her husband George. They were married in 1947 and had four beautiful Children; Sharon, Blair, Greg and Blacia. They moved to La Puente in 1950 where they were outstanding members of the community.
Bernice raised their four children and helped with the family wholesale meat business for more than 30 years. In 1983, they moved to Beaumont where they retired from the meat business. It was then, George and Bernice started to travel the country in their motorhome. Bernice loved to watch the Dodgers play and knew every player on the team.
She loved to cook for everyone, she loved sunflowers, she enjoyed looking at “The Facebook,” and loved a shot of Fireball every now and then at a party. She was an avid member of the local Disabled American Veterans. If you had the pleasure of meeting her, she probably bragged to you about one of her grandkids or great grandkids because they truly were her pride and joy. If you weren’t a blood grandchild, you wouldn’t know it because Bernice treated you the same. She was everyone’s grandma.
Bernice is preceded in death by her husband of 64 years, George E Gregory, her parents Fred and Florence Olsen, her son Blair Gregory, her son Greg Gregory, her brother Arthur Olsen, her sister June Knapp and two grandchildren.
Bernice is survived by her daughters Sharon Audelo of Yucaipa and Blacia (Tom) Orr of Mesa Ariz., Bernice had 22 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren, three brother-in-laws and three sisters in laws, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Graveside service is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 11, at Riverside National Cemetery, 22495 Van Buren Blvd., Riverside, at 9:45 a.m. Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, Oct. 12, at the Stuart residence 3 p.m. in Yucaipa.
