Alice Ahlstrom Hanes, a former resident of Redlands and Yucaipa, died on Feb. 21, 2020, in Palm Springs. She was 41.
Born on Jan. 6, 1979, in Santa Ana to Dorothy Ipson Ahlstrom and Mark Ahlstrom, she graduated from Yucaipa High School and earned an associate degree in early childhood development at Crafton Hills College.
In 1999, she married Bryce Hanes. They lived in Yucaipa and Redlands.
On Nov. 5, 2015, her husband, police officer Bryce, 40, was returning to his patrol area after transporting a prisoner to the West Valley Detention Center when a drunken juvenile driver ran a red light at Fourth Street and Etiwanda Avenue in Ontario at approximately 2:15 a.m. and collided with his patrol car. Officer Hanes was transported to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.He had served in the department for 12 years.
Alice is survived by her fiancé, Louis Olivarez, and her children, Abby Hanes, Katy Hanes, Ben Hanes, and Charlie Olivarez. She is also survived by her parents, Mark and Dorothy Ahlstrom, and siblings Becky Walters, Bill Ahlstrom, Jon Ahlstrom, and Richard Ahlstrom.
The funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 29, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint Chapel at 12776 Sixth St., Yucaipa.
