On Nov. 3 the General Municipal Election will be taking place in the city of Yucaipa. On the ballot will be three districts for city council that will be on the ballot. The city council adopted Resolution No. 2020-33 calling for and giving notice of the holding of the general municipal election to be held on Nov. 3, requesting San Bernardino County to consolidate the General Municipal Election with the Statewide Election and establishing regulations for candidate statements. Guidelines are set by the Registrar of Voters Office for interested candidates.
The three districts will include District 3 for the full term of four years presently held by Councilman Bobby Duncan; District 4 for the full term of four years presently held by Mayor Pro Tem Denise Allen; and District 5 for the full term of four years presently held by Councilman Dick Riddell.
The nomination period will commence on Monday, July 13 at 7:30 a.m. and will close on Friday, Aug. 7 at noon. If an incumbent does not file for re-election, the nomination period will extend to Wednesday, Aug. 12 until 5 p.m. for all registered voters that reside in the applicable district.
The election calendar and nominated packet will be provided to all prospective candidates that pull papers during the nomination period.
Duncan made a motion to move the item and it was seconded by Mayor Pro Tem Allen. The item passed 5-0.
