Submit your winning photo!

South Mesa invites its shareholders/customers to enter its Fire-Resistant Landscaping Competition. Fire-resistant landscaping uses strategically placed fire-resistant plants and defensible space to resist the spread of fire to your home.

The winner of the $200 gift card to a local nursery will be judged based on three categories:

Fire-Resistant Plant Species

Landscapes that feature plants that grow close to the ground, have a low sap content, grow without accumulating dead leaves, are easily maintained, and are drought tolerant.

Defensible Space

Landscapes that maintain a border of at least 10 feet away from your home and incorporate decorative rock, patios, pathways, and similar features that provide a fuel break.

Overall Aesthetics

Time to show off all of the hard work you’ve put into making your landscape beautiful! Submit photos that best capture the beauty of your home and gardens to win.

Visit SouthMesaWater.com/2021-contest/ for more information about fire-safe landscaping and to submit your photos by the deadline, Sept. 6, 2021.
