Lauren Nelson is a Yucaipa High School senior. She is a four-year varsity water polo and a one-year Varsity Swim Scholar Athlete. She was team captain and lead her team into a historical CIF-SS semifinal spot during the 2019-20 school year. She was part of the first girls water polo team at YHS to go to semifinals in the school’s history
Nelson was chosen for first team All CIF, first team All League and 1st team All-Area.
Nelson worked hard in the pool and the classroom and landed a spot on a Division-1 School roster.
She is sad her school year was cut short, but optimistic about her future.
“It hurts but I kind of accepted that I’m not going to have any of the cool events at the end of my senior year,” said Nelson. “I’m glad that I’m going to have a graduation, to go to the school and walk across the stage and have my parents be there to see it.”
In her free time, she enjoys polo, playing ukulele, painting and going to the beach with her friends.
She will be attending California State University Long Beach in the fall and will play water polo. She will major in child and adolescent development to pursue a career as an OB/GYN nurse.
