Yesterday Yucaipa High School parents were notified of an unsubstantiated threat that police had been investigating. Although unsubstantiated, we planned for additional police presence on campus.

Today at approximately 1:00 p.m. the high school received an anonymous tip that there was a male student who was possibly in possession of a gun. The district immediately notified law enforcement. Deputies responded to an off campus location and found the student in possession of a gun.

Additionally, campus security in conducting a routine end-of-period bathroom sweep, found another threat. As a result of these three threats the District notified Yucaipa Police and made a decision to put the school on lockdown. Ultimately the decision was made to implement a staggered student dismissal. Police responded with multiple deputies and buildings were systematically dismissed. Safety remains our highest priority.

The District would like to thank staff and students who remained calm and followed previously practiced safety protocols.

We appreciate the continued support of our community in maintaining the safety of our students.
