On Oct. 28, the Yucaipa City Council unanimously approved the purchase of replacement playground equipment at Wildwood Park to continue the theme, of “Fun In The Parks.”

“Over the last several years the city has replaced playground equipment at other parks including Seventh Street Park, Avenue I Park and Bryant/Glen Park,” said Fermin Preciado, Director of Public Works/City Engineer.

“The existing playground equipment at Wildwood Park is over 20 years old. The big slide that is part of that playground equipment has been closed to the public for some time due to some damage, but the rest of the equipment has been open for use but its condition has begun to decline. The playground equipment is located on the south side of the park,” said Preciado.

Quotes for playground equipment were submitted to several vendors and three quotes were received.

“The lowest quote for $58,990, was provided by Miracle Recreation Equipment. The equipment does include several slides, a climbing wall, and other climbing equipment. Quotes were requested for the instillation of the equipment from licensed and certified playground equipment installers and three quotes were also received for the installation with the lowest quote from GLC Landscape & Engineering in the amount of $32,500. They have completed other landscape projects for the city in the past and are licensed and certified installers of playground equipment,” said Preciado.

“I would like to say that I was there, maybe two and a half weeks ago at that playground and I think it is time to have it replaced,” said Mayor Pro Tem, David Avila.
