Local heroes honored with Lifesaving Awards

Sgt. Mike Huntsman, Corporal Jeff McDaniel, Deputies Nick Silva, Jeffrey Moss, Christian Cordoba.

Five members of the Yucaipa Police Department received the Lifesaving Award from the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department for saving lives while serving in the line of duty.

Deputy Jeff McDaniel provided CPR to a 74-year-old victim, who was suffering from a full cardiac arrest, and had stopped breathing and saved his life.

Deputies Nick Silva, Jeffrey Moss, and Christian Cordoba responded to a reported single vehicle traffic collision and saved the driver trapped in a burning vehicle.

Sergeant Mike Huntsman responded to and saved the life of a woman threatening to jump from a parking structure at the Loma Linda University Medical Center on Sept. 11, as part of the department’s Crisis Negotiation Team.
