On Tuesday, April 14, at approximately 9:11 a.m., deputies initiated a check of a vehicle at the park and ride lot located on Hampton Road near Overcrest Drive in the city of Yucaipa. The vehicle, registered to an address in Yucaipa, had expired registration and the driver gave a false name when contacted.

As deputies investigated, they identified the male as Jairo Guzman, 34, of Chino Hills, who was found to be on Post Release Community Supervision and wanted for violation of parole. During a search of the vehicle, deputies located a loaded Smith and Wesson revolver inside the vehicle. A records check showed the gun was stolen in the Los Angeles area in 1998. Additional suspected stolen property was also found in the car.

Guzman, a convicted felon prohibited from owning a firearm, was booked at Central Detention Center and is being held without bail.

Anyone with information related to the investigation is asked to contact the San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department Yucaipa Station at 918-2305. Anyone wishing to remain anonymous may contact We-Tip at 1-888-78-CRIME.
