On April 11, at 10:41 p.m., deputies responded to a report of a vehicle theft that just occurred on Avenue E. The victim reported his Honda Civic was stolen from in front of his residence.

At 10:56 p.m., an observant citizen reported the vehicle in the area of Calimesa Boulevard and Live Oak Canyon Road. A sheriff’s helicopter responded to the initial call and spotted the vehicle based on the citizen’s report. The helicopter followed the vehicle until patrol deputies arrived, stopped the car and took the driver into custody without incident. The vehicle was returned to its owner.

The driver, Damon Reynolds, 25, of Yucaipa, was found to be on felony probation and in possession of brass knuckles and ammunition. He was booked into West Valley Detention Center on several felony charges with bail set at $50,000.
