Jim Hyatt

The city of Calimesa released a statement on Monday, April 29. It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Calimesa City Council Member James “Jim” Hyatt who passed away on Saturday, April 27, 2019.

Council Member Hyatt was most recently reelected to the City Council November 2018.  Council Member Hyatt was a member of the incorporation committee established in the late 1980s which resulted in the successful incorporation of Calimesa.  He was elected as Council Member to the first Calimesa City Council upon its incorporation on December 1, 1990.  Council Member Hyatt has served since that time as a member of the City Council with a break in service for two terms from 1998 – 2006.  Jim also served as Mayor 3 different times during his terms in office.

Along with his service to Calimesa, he served as a member of the Western Riverside Council of Governments’ Board of Directors, the Riverside County Transportation Commission’s Board of Directors, as well as on the Western Riverside County Regional Conservation Authority and the Southern California Association of Governments.   Council Member Hyatt worked tirelessly for the city of Calimesa for 30 plus years making a difference in and for the community of Calimesa and its residents.  Council Member Hyatt will be greatly missed, but Calimesa and its residents will be forever grateful for his efforts on our behalf.
