A 25-year-old Banning man was killed early Wednesday morning as the result of two collisions on Interstate 10 east of Oak Glen Road, the CHP reports.

At 2:25 a.m. Aug. 7, Caesar Augusto Ortiz Jr.’s silver 2008 Kia Sorento was heading west when the first collision caused his car to overturn and land in the No. 1 lane. Minutes later, a silver 2009 Toyota Camry driven by 56-year-old Kenneth Sims of San Jacinto hit the car.

Ortiz was pronounced dead at the scene.

The collision is still under investigation. Anyone with information regarding this collision is encouraged to contact Officer J. Gill at the San Bernardino CHP Office at  383-4247.
