Deputies responded to a call of an attempted robbery at the US Bank on Yucaipa Boulevard Friday, June 19 at 12:18 p.m. The victim was an armored car driver for Loomis Transport. He had just exited the US Bank and went into his armored car when Luis Roca approached him wearing a bandana over his face while simulating a weapon.
Roca demanded money from the driver, but the driver resisted and a struggle ensued. The suspect exited the armored car, ran to his vehicle, and fled the scene.
The victim sustained minor injury due to the altercation. The suspect got away with no money or property. He fled the scene in a late model dark colored Kia Optima with paper plates.
Investigation led to the identification of Luis Roca, 51, as the suspect and a warrant has been issued for his arrest. He is considered armed and dangerous. Roca is a resident of Mentone.
