A Raise the Roof Rodeo planning update was given to city council on Monday, Feb. 12.

Community Services Supervisor Todd Gutjahr shared a planning update.

City council approved all requests, including receiving and filing the 2018 Raise the Roof Rodeo planning update; it waived the provisions of Yucaipa Municipal Code Section 12.06.030, Sub-Sections A and D, regarding overnight camping, for the duration of the event; and approved the amended event details.

“The rodeo coordinator and staff would like to camp overnight on Friday and Saturday, March 16 and 17. They’ll be camping in self contained recreational vehicles,” said Gutjahr.

He also shared the Yucaipa Equestrian Arena Planning Committee has raised over $13,000 in sponsorships.

“General admission tickets are $10 and children under the age of five are free. Ticket price includes the rodeo and concert,” Gutjahr said.

Gutjahr shared that the beer garden area was moved for safety reasons.

“The beer garden location was changed from parallel to the restroom to now behind the current fence. There will be an extra layer of security in-regards to the beer sales,” said Gutjahr.

Parking will be available for $5 in the vacant lot across the street.

“San Bernardino County Sheriff’s Department explorers and COP’s, along with the city’s CERT volunteers will be monitoring and directing traffic into the parking lot,” Gutjahr said.

Traffic will be exiting west of the parking lot. It is a one way in and one way out parking setup.

At an earlier council meeting on Monday, Nov. 27, Equestrian Arena Committee member Vanessa Register said, “We will be having vendors that have a Western theme, food vendors, line dancing lessons, various demonstrations during the day, queen of the rodeo, and a concert following the main event bulls and barrels.”

The Yucaipa Equestrian Center is located at 13273 California St., Yucaipa.
