Uptown Wine Merchant celebrates two years in Historic Uptown Yucaipa

Uptown Wine Merchant owner Ben Mozaffari is congratulated by Mayor David Avila before a speech.

Historic Uptown Yucaipa was bustling on March 8, as Uptown Wine Merchant celebrated its two-year anniversary.

Smiles, congratulations and cheers were abound at the wine shop last Sunday.

Ben Mozaffari purchased the property and started the business in hopes of sharing his love of wine with the community and he hasn’t been disappointed with the response. He was pleased with the large crowd on Sunday.

“I’d like to thank everyone who came out and showed their support,” said Mozaffari. “We’re really grateful to be part of such a great community. I love what this shop and Uptown has evolved into and we strive to be a cornerstone of our community.”

Yucaipa Mayor David Avila toasted the continued success of the business.

“I love seeing businesses thrive in our Uptown,” said Avila. “The Uptown Wine Merchant is yet another example of the kind of business that attracts local and out of town visitors to return to the Uptown again and again. Congratulations to Ben Mozaffari and the Uptown Wine Merchant’s two-year anniversary.”

Kim Roman attended the celebration with a large group of friends.

“We come from Redlands because we love Ben’s hospitality and his diverse wine selection,” said Roman.

Roman is part of a 26-member wine club group that visits Uptown Wine Merchant every Wednesday.

Ruth Cuevas traveled from Moreno Valley to celebrate the anniversary.

“This is affordable and Ben is very hospitable,” said Cuevas. “This is a place where friends meet.”

Tony and Anita Matlock, owners of Wildwood Oak Winery in Yucaipa, sell wine at Uptown Wine Merchant. They were in attendance on Sunday, offering complimentary samples of wine.

“We like selling our wine here,” said Anita. “This is a great place to come and try some wine. We are local and love to promote local.”

In addition to the good wine, guests were able to visit the free photo booth, Snap and Capture. There were plenty of props and laughter at the photo booth.

Snap and Capture owner Victor Jimenez said, “This event and the people are friendly and I like to keep the positive energy flowing.”

Uptown Wine Merchant is located at 35018 Yucaipa Blvd. The wine shop is open Wednesday through Saturday from 3 p.m. to 10 p.m. and on Sunday from noon to 6 p.m.
