Sullivan Party Rentals grows through connection with community

Since 2019, Sullivan Party Rentals in Yucaipa has been part of the community and whether it’s helping with birthday parties, larger events such as graduations or renting bouncy houses during the pandemic, they’ve strived to grow and accommodate the city of Yucaipa.

“We call our customers our friends because they eventually become our friends,” said the owner of Sullivan Party Rentals, Jeanette Sullivan.

Jeannette and her husband Greg Sullivan own and operate the party supply store located at 35026 Yucaipa Blvd. And since beginning operations in 2019, Sullivan Party Rentals has become a community favorite and one where the Sullivans have not just built a strong customer base, but a strong relationship with the community and its members.

“In August of 2019, we were at the Autumnfest, and we weren’t in business that long at that point, but there were kids saying we’re their bouncy house supplier, people coming to talk to me and I even had one person place an order,” said Jeanette.

“I can’t tell you how many times we got stopped that night,” Jeanette said. “Our son looked at us and said, ‘when’d you get famous in Yucaipa?’”

In its first year, Sullivan party rentals or as Jeannette mentioned some customers refer to it as Sullivan’s operated from the Sullivan residence and made double its anticipated income.

However, following a strong first year in business, Sullivan’s faced a murky future with the COVID-19 pandemic causing social distancing and a shutdown. But after three months of inactivity, Sullivan’s began leasing bouncy houses in May for a new custom price during the pandemic.

“One thing that made us popular with our bouncy houses is that prior to the pandemic, we sanitized everything before rental, and once our crew gets to their delivery destination they sanitize again,” said Jeanette.

Sullivan’s focus on health and safety prior to the pandemic helped them be viewed as a safe and trusted company, which then led to it being able to operate and grow during the pandemic.

In addition to renting bouncy houses to families, Sullivan’s also began supplying larger business events as well.

“Not many businesses could say it, but we actually grew during the pandemic,” shared Jeanette.

With business growing, Sullivan’s was able to move to its current location in December 2021.

Growth for Sullivan’s can be attributed to plenty of factors, but none seem to be stronger than its ability to connect with the community.

“We love our customer relationships,” said Jeanette. “We have couples that we’ve done their engagement party, bridal shower, baby shower and first birthdays, so we’ve been able to follow these people’s lives,” she added.

What brought Jeanette and Greg to Yucaipa was their want for a city that was tight-knit, and in Yucaipa, the couple feels they found just what they were looking for.

“We’re honored and blessed by the community,” said the Sullivans.

And at the Yucaipa Chamber of Commerce’s Installation dinner this year, they were recognized by the community, earning the business of the year award for outstanding service to the community.

The company’s growth has allowed Sullivan Party Rentals to grow in inventory and has even forced them to look for a new location. Currently, nothing is imminent, but more space is necessary as they currently hold the equipment at three separate locations.
